Scotland - Glencoe & Glenfinnan

LOVED Glencoe & Glenfinnan. So beautiful!! I felt like I was in a movie or a fairy tale at different times... just breathtaking.

Our first official "walk" in Scotland. We hiked up to the waterfall. It was a rainy misty morning, and going up wasn't too bad, but coming back down was a little tricky. Patrick took the first and only fall of the trip as we were making our way back down. In Scotland they believe walking (hiking) is a right of passage and it is a law that you can go wherever you choose for recreational, educational, and certain other purposes. If you are walking through someones farm/land, they ask that you stay on the path. There are paths EVERYWHERE!

Another walk we did that explores more of the forrest and woodlands.

Rhododendrons were blooming everywhere. In some places we saw entire mountainsides covered by the flowers.

View from Signal Rock--Legend says the signal was given from here to begin the Glencoe Massacre

Some beautiful wildflowers that were in bloom. We saw these in lots of different places.

A little fawn ran out from under this after I snapped a picture.

 This tree!!

Glenfinnan

The Glenfinnan viaduct. This is the infamous track that the Hogwarts express is seen on in the Harry Potter movies. We thought about taking a train ride, but decided against it.

Some interesting pieces of log art???

Loch Shiel is across the way from the viaduct. This is where Bonnie Prince Charlie came ashore.

On our way back from Glenfinnan, we stopped to take a picture of Castle Stalker. Castle Stalker appears in the final scene as "The Castle of Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh" in the Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

When we made it back to Blarcreen House, we went for another walk along the Loch there, Etive. The day started out a little rainy and misty and ended absolutely beautifully. This was taken at about 10p.m. In the Summer they have about 17 hours of daylight and even at the darkest point of their day it's more like twilight.
