m&m's for Breakfast

As I was getting ready for church Sunday morning Will had a better idea. He was getting into Daddy's Peanut Butter m&m's. He was a mess and there were m&m's stuck all in the vent he was perched on.
This is where I sneaked up on him....
This is where he noticed he was "caught"...
And this is what happens when you overindulge...Any questions?--Besides the obvious "Where were you while this was happening?" question

Christmas Morning

Our morning started not so bright, but early enough. Thankfully, Will slept till 6:30 so that I could get some last minute laundry, gift wrapping, and organizing done before we needed to leave.

When Will awakened, we were greeted with a lovely green snotty nose and face. Just so festive that child... He humored us though, and we had fun watching him open his gifts and ours.

A favorite of Will's. Don't Worry. I made him brush his teeth first.

Opening Ceseley's Dog Train book/CD. He LOVES it almost as much as I do. It comes highly recommended by us (We dance around in the kitchen to the music every morning). Thanks, Ceseley!

Sleep Over

We LOVED having Layla and Olivia visit for a week. It was so good to see them. They are getting so BIG. I wouldn't be surprised if Layla is taller than me the next time I see here.

One of the fun things we did while they were here was a sleep over at Rocky River. Mom surprised us all with pajamas under the Christmas tree there. All the children had matching jammies. It was pretty cute.

Mr. Sandman

William sleeping is as good, or maybe even better than me getting my own sleep. It is in those short-lived moments of quietness that my hope is often restored.

When I was pregnant I saw video monitors that you could use to watch your children sleep. I thought that was pretty lame and boring. Now I understand the complete bliss in watching them sleep. I don't know what it is about children when they are sleeping that make them so irresistible.

Will has lately taken-up some peculiar sleeping arrangements lately....

On this particular check-in, I found he had pushed all his blankets together so he could sit up and sleep at the same time.

I heard William crying a bit more and louder than usual on this occasion. When I was certain he was asleep, I went in and found him like this. His leg had slipped through the crib slats. I laughed to myself and ran to get the camera. I took a few shots and then went to remove his leg from the awkward position. It was quite snugly stuck. I laughed and then felt really guilty and wondered what in the world I was going to do. After some aggressive maneuvering, I was able to free the chubby leg. He did unfortunately wake up, give me a few mad cries at being disturbed, and some very unpleasant grimaces before nuzzling back into his sheets for a deep sleep.
Notice the scratches in the wood? That's from teething. They are everywhere! So glad we didn't get a fancy-schmancy crib!

How do you eat your oreo?

I don't always know what is going on when Patrick is looking after Will. But I think it's pretty obvious why Daddy is his favorite, AND why he has decided to tell him on a couple of occasions "wuv ooo" and I still got nothin'!

Here. Have a bite.

Hard Working Man

Patrick graduated December 13th from Tennessee Tech with a degree in Finance. We still can't believe he is done. He has sacrificed so much to get here. He has balanced (most of the time VERY well) working a full-time night shift job on the weekends, being a full time student, a dedicated husband, an attentive daddy, and responsibilities at church for just a little over 3 years. He complained some but it was rare. Usually it had the ring of, "This is hard." Had it been me: "I am so tired! You don't know how hard this is! wah! wah! wah!" But I'm pretty sure he is a better person than I am. So I'm not at all surprised. On the 12th he accepted a job offer from Northwestern Mutual. He will be a wealth management advisor and sell different types of insurance. Right now he is studying so he can get his licensing. The job is in Murfreesboro but he will be able to work from home quite a lot. He'll do this along with his weekend job until he thinks he can't/ or doesn't want to manage it any more. He is a worker! He is still pretty interested in graduate school and hasn't totally counted it out yet. But for now it will just be work, work, family, and church on his to do list. I am so proud of him and proud to be his wife.

Men at work

We don't have much leaves to clear up in the fall, but we have enough. Our preferred method of getting rid of them? Mowing them. It chops them up in teeny tiny pieces that you can't even see. Some people think it's weird. We think its easy. Here are the men taking care of business...

My first giveaway!!!!!!

If you are trying to find that perfect gift for the person you love (or hate), I have the perfect solution. KITTENS! There are 2 adorable kittens at my house that need a home or barn. One is male and one is female. I'll try and post some pictures soon.

For some reason our house seems to be the perfect spot to drop off cats. The first drop off was about 3 mo ago. Momma cat gave birth under our deck to 2 kittens. My neighbor graciously took them in. Last drop-off was about a month ago. Started seeing a pretty cat hanging around driving our cat killing dogs mad. Not too long after that noticed 4 kittens with Momma cat hanging out in the warm sun on our deck. We have been able to get rid--I mean give the Momma and 2 of the kittens away but we still have 2. So it's your lucky day. Leave a comment if you are interested -- you know you are!

Will's 1st Birthday

We celebrated William's birthday on Saturday. We had a small little gathering of close family. We were excited to have Mandy and her girls tune in via web cam to sing to William and watch him open his gifts. The party started out kinda rough. Everyone got here and Will hadn't woken up from his afternoon nap. He was not happy! He did not like being the center of attention--but he got over it! He loved having a few of his cousins here to play with.
One of his favorite books is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. So that is what we kinda based the theme on. He loved being able to feed himself his very own "caterpillar" head. This was and is his most favorite thing he got. He carries it everywhere. I'm not a big toy person so it works out perfectly that this didn't cost us a dime. So thanks, Mandy, for insisting I take a few of the girls old toys. I still have a few things down in the basement that should work nicely for Christmas :)
Me and the cutest, most sweetest, birthday boy in the world!

To say the least it's been a very exciting year. Filled with some tears shed by both parties. I remember not long after we had William home, sitting in the rocking chair in his room trying to decipher what in the world could be wrong with him. sick? cold? hot? hungry? sleepy? HELP!

I would sit and cry and tell him I'm so sorry you had to come here!

But mainly for me it's been happy tears. I can't say the same for William. Poor trial and error baby.

I can't believe he is a year old. Time has flown by. But what I really can't believe is that we were actually able to keep him alive--
--I think we'll keep him.

Play Date

Jonah came over on Friday to play with William while his parents went to the temple. They had a lot of fun interacting with each other, and I had fun watching them. Jonah is 2months younger than Will. They were both really good. I took these after their bath. Don't they look so cute in their jammies? Will wasn't up to cooperating...hamming it up I laid this blanket out and propped their heads up with pillows-they proceeded to feed themselves-and each other. So Sweet!

Earlier that day, Jonah showed us his skillz. He can really jump! I sat down on the bed with him and William, and Jonah went to town! William thought it was hilarious. I haven't heard him laugh that hard very much. Like always, we get the camera out and they stopped. But this is what we caught...

What a mess!

We have been doing some reorganizing around the house so we had tons of stuff laying around. Will got into some of the pictures I hadn't put into a photo album yet. I got those away from him and then became interested in looking through them. Will walked away, and a few minutes later I thought to myself he sure is being quite--never a good sign.
Vaseline. all over his hands and feet. He was just staring at it and squishing it over and over in his hands. Luckily it wasn't anywhere else. I know it was crazy and very dangerous but I had to run and get the camera. It did take awhile to finally degrease him.
